We are a small hobby kennel, where our dogs live as family. When breeding a litter, our priority is temperament, health, quality and type.

​

My Mum bought her first Rough Collie as a pet from Kelly Shafique (Razda) in 1983. We all loved Remy dearly.  With her background as a Veterinary Nurse, Mum soon became interested in genetics and breeding.

​

Brilyn Supertramp was the dog we admired and it was on one of the 200 mile trips to use Trampy, that my Mum was fortunate to be offered Lanteague Amanda at Brilyn. She was bought as a 3 year old for my tenth birthday present in 1987 for me to show. Amanda was the sweetest, kindest bitch imaginable. During my childhood, that dog was my best friend and we were an inseparable pair, well known in the show world.

In 3 years I showed Amanda to her title, eventually winning 4 CCs & 1 RCC. She is the foundation behind the original Hanvale line. She was given sleep at nearly 15 years old, having never been to the Vets in the 12 years that she lived with us.

In 2004 I married Simon who had always had dogs but never shown. I had a rough collie, Alanis, a granddaughter of Amanda as a pet. She was beautiful but hated the showring. We then added Harriet to our brood in 2002 and Dougal in 2006 who is Amanda's great great great grandson. We started showing Dougal as a puppy and hubby soon became hooked on the dog show world which became his hobby as well as mine. It took a while, but Dougal became the first homebred Hanvale Champion in 2009. He gained a further CC from his very first veteran class and a RCC along the way.

In 2012, we imported Florence from France from the Cabrenysset Kennel, which was established some 75 years ago. Florence has become quite well known in the U.K. and was a champion at two years old. She now holds 9CCs and 4RCCs with the title of the British Collie Club Rough Collie of the Year 2013 and Runner Up in both 2015 and 2016. In 2017, she delighted us by winning an astonishing Open Bitch class at Crufts. She was crowned Veteran of the Year in 2018.

In 2014, we brought over Dora from the Cabrenysset kennel too who is Florence's neice. She has always been rather in her Auntie Flo's shadow but has enjoyed some good results herself including her stud book number, and is an absolute joy to live with.

In 2016, I went full circle and was offered 'Bella' by Brian Hawkins, who let me have Amanda some 29 years earlier. She is the image of Hanvale Winter Jasmine, who was Dougal's dam. Bella made her mark in the showring gaining her Junior Warrant at just 14 months, her first CC at 15 months plus two Breed Club Best in Show awards before giving us the most beautiful litter of three babies from which we kept Hanvale Polly Shelby. On her return to the showring at the end of the Summer of 2018, she took the RCC at Bournemouth, her first show, then another Breed Clubs BIS, the CC at Belfast and another RCC at Collie Association all before the end of the year. She started 2019 with BOB at Boston Championship Show, with a Group Shortlist, British Collie Club Rough Collie of the Year Best Bitch and overall Runner Up, before taking her Champion Title in style together with Best in Show at Northumberland and Durham Collie Club Championship Show in April and a further CC at London Collie Club in June of that year.

Polly Shelby had an outstanding Junior career gaining her Junior Warrant before an amazing run of awards starting in quick succession beginning with a RCC, followed by 2CCs and another RCC. Lockdown then ensued, but once we were back out in the ring in 2021 and had refound 'our mojo', she gained her third CC for her Champion title, and then another CC at the next show she attended.  Polly's brother Arthur Shelby gained a RCC in 2021 and their third sibling Tommy Shelby although living in a pet home, has joined us at a handful of shows where he has always been highly placed, including 1st at Crufts in 2020 in Mid Limit Dog.

I was granted my first judging appointment when I was just 14 and some 30 years after gaining my first CC in 1988, I now award CCs in Rough Collies, and have done so in both Scotland and Northern Ireland. I have also judged Roughs in Southern Ireland, and also judge both Smooth Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs. My degree is in Osteopathy and I specialise in lower limb biomechanics - though I knew the anatomy of a dog long before that of a human. I am also a Canine Osteopath.

Simon started judging Rough Collies after ten years with the breed and we both now serve on the committee of the Midland Collie Club, myself as Secretary.

Wij zijn een kleine hobby kennel, waar onze honden leven als familieleden. Bij het fokken van een nestje ligt onze prioriteit bij temperament, gezondheid, kwaliteit en type.

Mijn moeder kocht haar eerste Rough Collie als huisdier van Kelly Shafique (Razda) in 1983. We hielden allemaal zielsveel van Remy.  Met haar achtergrond als dierenarts verpleegkundige, raakte mijn moeder al snel geïnteresseerd in genetica en fokken.

Brilyn Supertramp was de hond die we bewonderden en het was tijdens het bezoek om Tramp te gebruiken, dat mijn moeder het geluk had om Lanteague Amanda of Brilyn aangeboden te krijgen. Ze werd als 3 jarige gekocht als cadeau voor mijn tiende verjaardag in 1987 om ermee te showen. Amanda was de liefste en vriendelijkste teef denkbaar. Tijdens mijn jeugd was ze mijn beste vriend en we waren een onafscheidelijk paar, welbekend in de showwereld.

In 3 jaar tijd showde ik Amanda naar haar titel, uiteindelijk won ze 4 CCs & 1 RCC. Zij is de basis van de originele Hanvale lijn. Ze werd ingeslapen toen ze bijna 15 jaar oud was, ze was nog nooit naar de dierenarts geweest in de 12 jaar dat ze bij ons woonde.

In 2004 trouwde ik met Simon, die altijd honden had gehad, maar nooit shows had gedaan. Ik had toen een Rough collie, Alanis, een kleindochter van Amanda als huishond. Ze was mooi maar haatte de showring. In 2002 kwam  Harriet erbij en Dougal in 2006, een Amanda's achter-achterkleinzoon. We begonnen met Dougal te showen als puppy en mijn man raakte al snel verslingerd aan de hondenshow wereld, wat zowel zijn hobby als de mijne werd. Het duurde even, maar Dougal werd de eerste zelfgefokte Hanvale Kampioen in 2009. Hij behaalde nog een CC in zijn allereerste veteranenklas en later nog een RCC.

In 2012 importeerden we Florence uit Frankrijk van de Cabrenysset Kennel, die zo'n 75 jaar geleden is opgericht. Florence is heel bekend geworden in Groot Brittannië en was al kampioen toen ze twee jaar oud was. Ze heeft nu 9CCs en 4RCCs met de titel van de British Collie Club Rough Collie of the Year 2013 en Runner Up in zowel 2015 als 2016. In 2017 verblijdde ze ons door een verbazingwekkende Open teven klas te winnen op Crufts. In 2018 werd ze gekroond tot Veteraan van het Jaar.

In 2014 kwam ook Dora over van de Cabrenysset kennel, een nichtje van Florence. Ze heeft altijd in de schaduw van haar tante Flo gestaan, maar heeft zelf een aantal goede resultaten behaald, waaronder haar stamboeknummer en is een absoluut plezier om mee te leven.

In 2016 maakte ik de cirkel rond en kreeg ik 'Bella' aangeboden van Brian Hawkins, die me zo'n 29 jaar eerder Amanda had gegeven. Ze is het evenbeeld van Hanvale Winter Jasmine, die Dougal's moeder was. Bella maakte indruk in de showring en behaalde haar Junior Warrant met slechts 14 maanden, haar eerste CC met 15 maanden plus twee Breed Club Best in Show voordat ze ons het mooiste nest van drie pups gaf waaruit we Hanvale Polly Shelby hielden. Bij haar terugkeer in de showring aan het einde van de zomer van 2018 begon Bella aan een prachtige carriere in de showring voordat ze haar kampioenstitel in stijl pakte samen met Best in Show op Northumberland and Durham Collie Club Championship Show in april van dat jaar.

Polly Shelby volgde in de voetstappen van haar moeder en na een uitstekende Junior carrière wist ze ondanks de lockdown in 2021 haar kampioenstitel te behalen.  Polly's broer Arthur Shelby behaalde een RCC in 2021 en hun derde broer Tommy Shelby, hoewel hij in een dierenasiel woont, heeft ons vergezeld op een handvol shows waar hij altijd hoog geplaatst werd, waaronder 1e op Crufts in 2020 in Mid Limit reuen klas.

Ik kreeg mijn eerste uitnodiging als keurmeester toen ik nog maar 14 was en zo'n 30 jaar na het behalen van mijn eerste CC in 1988, reik ik nu CC's uit voor Rough Collies, en heb dit zowel in Schotland als Noord-Ierland gedaan. Nous sommes un petit élevage familial où nos chiens vivent comme des membres de la famille. Lorsque nous élevons une portée, notre priorité est le tempérament, la santé, la qualité et le type.

Ma mère a acheté son premier Rough Collie comme animal de compagnie chez Kelly Shafique (Razda) en 1983. Nous aimions tous beaucoup Remy.  Avec sa formation d'infirmière vétérinaire, ma mère s'est rapidement intéressée à la génétique et à l'élevage.

 Brilyn Supertramp était le chien que nous admirions et c'est au cours de la visite à utiliser Tramp que ma mère a eu la chance de se voir offrir Lanteague Amanda at Brilyn. Elle a été achetée à l'âge de 3 ans comme cadeau pour mon 10e anniversaire en 1987 pour faire des expositions avec. Amanda était la chienne la plus douce et la plus gentille qui soit. Pendant mon enfance, cette  chienne était ma meilleure amie et nous formions un couple inséparable, bien connu dans le monde des expositions.

 En 3 ans, j'ai amené Amanda à son titre, elle a finalement gagné 4 CCs et 1 RCC. Elle est à la base de la lignée originale des Hanvale. Elle a été endormie à presque 15 ans, elle n'était jamais allée chez le vétérinaire pendant les 12 ans où elle a vécu avec nous.

 En 2004, j'ai épousé Simon, qui avait toujours eu des chiens mais n'avait jamais fait d'expositions. J'ai ensuite eu comme animal de compagnie un Rough collie, Alanis, une petite-fille d'Amanda. Elle était belle mais détestait les concours. En 2002, Harriet est arrivée et Dougal en 2006, un arrière petit-fils d'Amanda. Nous avons commencé à exposer Dougal lorsqu'il était chiot et mon mari est rapidement devenu accro au monde des expositions canines, qui est devenu à la fois son hobby et le mien. Il a fallu du temps, mais Dougal est devenu le premier champion né à Hanvale en 2009. Il a obtenu un autre CC dans sa toute première classe de vétérans et plus tard un RCC.

 En 2012, nous avons importé Florence de France de l'élevage de Cabrenysset, fondé il y a 75 ans. Florence est devenue très célèbre au Royaume-Uni et était déjà une championne à l'âge de deux ans. Elle a maintenant 9CCs et 4RCCs avec le titre de British Collie Club Rough Collie of the Year 2013 et Runner Up en 2015 et 2016. En 2017, elle nous a fait plaisir en remportant une incroyable classe de chienne ouverte à Crufts. En 2018, elle a été nomméee vétéran de l'année.

 En 2014, Dora est également venue de l'élevage de Cabrenysset, une nièce de Florence. Elle a toujours été dans l'ombre de sa tante Flo, mais a obtenu elle-même de bons résultats, y compris son studbook number et c'est un vrai bonheur de vivre avec elle.

En 2016, j'ai bouclé le cercle et je me suis vu offrir " Bella " par Brian Hawkins, qui m'avait donné Amanda quelque 29 ans plus tôt. Elle est le portrait craché de Hanvale Winter Jasmine, qui était la mère de Dougal. Bella a impressionné dans le ring d'exposition, obtenant son Junior Warrant à seulement 14 mois, son premier CC à 15 mois et deux Breed Club Best in Show avant de nous donner la plus belle portée de trois chiots dont nous avons gardé Hanvale Polly Shelby. Lors de son retour sur le ring d'exposition à la fin de l'été 2018, Bella a commencé une merveilleuse carrière sur le ring d'exposition avant de décrocher son titre de champion avec style ainsi que le Best in Show au Northumberland and Durham Collie Club Championship Show en avril de la même année.

 Polly Shelby a suivi les traces de sa mère et, après une excellente carrière junior, a réussi à remporter son titre de championne malgré le lockdown  en 2021.  Le frère de Polly, Arthur Shelby, a obtenu un RCC en 2021 et leur troisième frère, Tommy Shelby, bien que vivant dans un refuge pour animaux, nous a rejoints à une poignée d'expositions où il s'est toujours bien classé, y compris 1er à Crufts en 2020 dans la classe des mâles Mid Limit.

  J'ai reçu ma première invitation à juger alors que je n'avais que 14 ans et quelque 30 ans après avoir obtenu mon premier CC en 1988, je juge maintenant des CC pour les Rough Collies, et je l'ai fait à la fois en Ecosse et en Irlande du Nord. J'ai également jugé des Roughs en Irlande du Sud, et je juge également des Smooth Collies et des Shetland Sheepdogs. Je suis diplômé en ostéopathie et je suis spécialisé dans la biomécanique des membres inférieurs, même si je connaissais l'anatomie d'un chien bien avant celle d'un humain. Je suis également ostéopathe canin.

  Simon a commencé à juger des Rough Collies après dix ans dans la race et nous faisons tous les deux partie du conseil d'administration du Midland Collie Club, moi en tant que secrétaire.
